About 3MT®
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ) which challenges research higher degree students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in just three minutes in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
Event Details
Applications must be submitted before 23 december 2019 as a pdf-file via the DSCI 2019 :

Applicants should submit (as a single PDF file) the following:

Type of submission : Poster Session

A curriculum vitae (max 2 pages).

An extended abstract (2 pages) that summarizes the research problem, the main contributions, conclusions and research directions.

You will be notified if you are selected for the 3 minute thesis competition Session by email

Practice to stay within the 3 minute mark

We will enforce the 3 minute duration. Practice your talk.

Preparing your presentation

Put your name on the slide. Recall the rules: 1 slide. No animation, no sounds.

Upload your presentation by 24 December 2019 as a PDF (file name: 3mt_firstName_LastName)

The organisers will contact you by 24 December if any problems exist with your slide.

On the day of the event:
-
Please arrive at the room at time and introduce yourself to the 3MT organisers

Due to time restrictions, we will NOT be accepting last minute submissions via USB key or other means.

The order of presentations will be sent to you by email.

The event will start by the organisers introducing the event rules and the panel, and then each candidate will have 3 mns to present their work and slide.

We will allow 2 minutes to switch candidates and the panel to evaluate the presentation.

An automated timer will switch of your slide/screen after 3mins.

Judgement criteria for the panel

3MT organisers will not participate in the judgement.

Audience vote
-
The audience can participate by voting using a web-based (mobile and PC viewable system) on each presentation.

At conclusion we will announce two awards
